Getting a Back on Track
Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty buries his way through the 2025 season
Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 15)
In this wild matchup against the NYG Giants, Ashton Jeanty couldn't really get going. He went up against a big defensive line that was pushing the line back and sealing the edges. Jeanty did his best to get to the second level but there was nothing he could do. He was at times trying to bounce the ball back outside but even then the Giants were too quick. After last week's great performance, I was expecting a better outcome from the running game. But one could see that the NY

Finally, RB Ashton Jeanty surpassed his norm in rushing and allowed the Raiders to be much more competitive in this game against HOU Texans. It was a really hard-fought game where there was much more push upfront and gave Jeanty more room to run. It was his best game of the season as he had over 120 yards rushing and 60 yards receiving to give him his best line of the year. It seemed the offensive line had improved as well, as it was apparent that Jeanty was finding creases a

This week against the PHI Eagles, the Raiders had a tough test. It was clear that if their retooled offensive line could spark any changes in the interior it would mean better production from Jeanty. He had 35 yards rushing on 9 carries so there is still a lot that he hasn't done to warrant complete confidence. It's a sign that the Raiders are going to have to address that repeating issue. It may take a revamp on the line where Kolton Miller the LT, hasn't been able to contri

This past week against the tenacious DEN Broncos defense, Ashton Jeanty provided some offense but not enough to surpass some of his better performances.

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 11)
Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty had another pedestrian game, this time against the Los Angeles Chargers (LAC). He couldn't help establish the running game and a lot of it was against an overmatched offensive line. The offensive line right now needs a lot of retooling and reconfiguration. Jeanty had a measly 31 yards rushing and 30 yards receiving. He did get a lot of touches and those would lead you to believe that he is starting to get the hang of his assignments. However, he is st

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 10)
In this scenario, this past Sunday against the CLE Browns, our primary tailback Ashton Jeanty had an acceptable performance as far as this season goes. He had 108 yards from scrimmage and 1 receiving TD to pad his stats. The Raiders played against another rookie in Ohio State product Quinshon Judkins who had 2 short-yardage runs for TD's. Neither running back has blown the top off but both are exhibiting good capability at the running back position. In terms of our guy, Jeant

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 9)
Ashton Jeanty has somewhat struggled this year but the biggest takeaway I think will be a dearth of running lanes. He like commentator Troy Aikman said has not been able to soar because he gets hit behind the line of scrimmage more than any other running back. This is a guy that was drafted no. 6 overall and has not produced like a generational running back, but the good news is it is still early in the process. Jeanty has conducted himself super well but he still needs to ta

Jeanty so far this year has given his team and the fans some necessary outlook into what kind of player he can be. It seems with a disgruntled offensive line, these changes have made it more difficult for him to feel more comfortable. This week against Denver, Jeanty was more elusive and agile it seemed as in my estimation, he was trying to shift and cut in the right way. I saw improvement in how he was trying to find the open hole. One of the biggest plays in the first half

Ashton Jeanty looked like he was being counted on in the offense like he needed to have a big game. Thanks to TE Brock Bowers, some of the load was taken off Jeanty as Geno Smith was able to spread the ball around. Jeanty scurried for a resounding 42 yards on 13 carries and managed to get the ball across the goal line for a receiving TD. Although the Raiders needed another point, the point could be made Jeanty is still not getting enough touches. Although they can't get him g

The Raiders are simply not executing plays on offense. Moreover, they are not capitalizing on a back that has limitless potential. I don't understand the ineffectiveness to such a large capacity. Jeanty by himself could have gotten more first downs if they had tried something else. An absolute clunker of a game with an offense that looks out of sorts.

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 5)
Following a miserable defeat to the IND Colts in Week 5, the Las Vegas Raiders bounced back and handed the TEN Titans a little bit of their own medicine as they won 20-10 in Las Vegas. There has been a growing prevalence that RB Ashton Jeanty has to begin to get more production because he was picked at no. 6, as we already know. This is not a criticism of Jeanty because he's almost one-third through his rookie year. The hype and hysteria surrounding his first few games was co

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 4)
This week against the Colts, the Raiders had developed further comfort with their featured back Ashton Jeanty, yet even with some more confidence, the Raiders couldn't unleash Jeanty with free roaming. Jeanty didn't have a bad game, he just wasn't everything the Raiders needed. He's had a tendency to get stuffed at the line of scrimmage on key downs. I think that has led to some of the frustration because the whole offense is trying to figure out how to optimize Jeanty and ge

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 3)
In Week 4 against the Chicago Bears, RB Ashton Jeanty had a riveting game that was due to a subpar offensive line being rejuvenated by the addition of RG Jackson-Powers Johnson. By coming back from a head injury, Jackson Powers-Johnson resolidified that something was missing from the Raiders. Not all of this blame should fall on Jeanty by any means because he was hit in the backfield consistently behind the line of scrimmage predominantly against the Chargers and Commanders,

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 2)
After another lackluster performance in Week 3 against the Commanders, eyes have once again turned to the backfield of the Raiders, and specifically Ashton Jeanty. He has not met expectations this early in the season, and it depends how the Raiders adjust to see if they can start feeding him the rock with more confidence. He is running hard yet been hit behind the line of scrimmage on several plays. The statistic is quite alarming because the offensive line has not been openi

Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 1)
After two games, it has been made apparent that the Raiders have been relying most heavily on the arm of Geno Smith. Rather than featuring a formidable rushing attack and some strikes down the field, the Raiders with new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, have some work to do. Although the first game of the season was a success, some things still need some tightening and tweaking in order to get the offense where it needs to be. There is significant optimism in the rookies, ho
