In Week 4 against the Chicago Bears, RB Ashton Jeanty had a riveting game that was due to a subpar offensive line being rejuvenated by the addition of RG Jackson-Powers Johnson. By coming back from a head injury, Jackson Powers-Johnson resolidified that something was missing from the Raiders. Not all of this blame should fall on Jeanty by any means because he was hit in the backfield consistently behind the line of scrimmage predominantly against the Chargers and Commanders, in Weeks 2 and 3 respectively. In this game against the Bears, Jeanty and the Raiders had some magic early, yet, much of it was diminished by turnovers. Jeanty did have a fumble on fourth-and-one and it was followed by some stout defense to minimize damage by the Bears in the first half. Maxx Crosby had his best game of the year with supreme activity. With 4:15 left in the first half, Ashton really provided a stellar play because he was getting good push and finish from the guys in front of him. Jeanty ran 64 yards for a touchdown. He broke a tackle in terrific fashion that allowed him to scamper for a big score. The Raiders were up 14-9 at half and everything was pointing towards another gripping half. In my perspective, it was obvious that the game was not going to get away from the Bears. They came off a key victory against the Cowboys. However, runs like Jeanty totally injected the Raiders fanbase with a lot to cheer about. It was good for the team and the fans to see more from such a promising prospect. Now, I think Jeanty will settle into more of a major role and the line will adjust to what's in front of them.
This week, Jeanty rushed 21 times for 138 yards and 1 TD. He caught 2 passes for 17 yards and 2 TDs.
