Getting a Back on Track (Vol. 10)

In this scenario, this past Sunday against the CLE Browns, our primary tailback Ashton Jeanty had an acceptable performance as far as this season goes. He had 108 yards from scrimmage and 1 receiving TD to pad his stats. The Raiders played against another rookie in Ohio State product Quinshon Judkins who had 2 short-yardage runs for TD's. Neither running back has blown the top off but both are exhibiting good capability at the running back position. In terms of our guy, Jeanty continues to develop in the passing game as he had a perfect 8 for 8 in receptions. He had a long catch and run for 25 yards. If Jeanty can compile more long-distance runs and catches to his repertoire he's going to elevate the offense. However, with so much controversy at the other positions, he's been at a huge disadvantage. The Raiders need to address the offensive line and the quarterback spots. At tight end, they are stacked, and continue to give Geno Smith outlets when everything seems to collapse. Jeanty has had to shoulder much of the load, in literal terms, because he gets hit the most of any other running back. He seems a little critical of himself and the team, but without wanting to say it. But I guess, that goes for a lot of them.

This week against the PHI Eagles, the Raiders had a tough test. It was clear that if their retooled offensive line could spark any changes in the interior it would mean better production from Jeanty.
